Hello, I must be going.

December 21, 2007

Dum medium silentium tenerent omnia,
et nox in suo cursu medium iter haberet,
omnipotens sermo tuus, Domine,
de caelis a regalibus sedibus venit.

When all things were in quiet silence,
and night was in the midst of her swift course,
Thine almighty word, O Lord,
leapt down from heaven out of Thy royal throne, Alleluia
– from the Christmas Eve Vespers

Tomorrow is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year for those of us in the northern hemisphere. It also marks the day we return to Atlanta to spend the holidays with family. Blogging will be sporadic at best, so here’s my chance to wish all of you a joyous Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Any one thinking of the Holy Child as born in December would mean by it exactly what we mean by it; that Christ is not merely a summer sun of the prosperous but a winter fire for the unfortunate.
– G.K. Chesterton
